About
S.h.e.e.r.
We are susceptible to trauma from our historical and genealogical connections and retraumatize ourselves, exposing unhealed wounds to new or ongoing social relationships and decision-making. When we prepare to address barriers and explore possible benefits to motivate our actions, we, in turn, motivate cognitive restructuring to engage in more informed decision-making and effective thinking. Increasing informed decision-making increases wisdom. Essentially, we build a readiness to change behavior when the perceived threat of susceptibility and severity are understood. After assessing the benefits of change and our barriers to achieving or maintaining it, we prepare to take action. However, our self-efficacy, or the belief that we can achieve something, is the hallmark of whether action occurs, maintenance is completed, or relapse is recurring. Often paired with self-esteem, our esteem is the belief in our worth, and our self-efficacy is the belief in our ability.
Sexual Health Education, Esteem, & Relationships (Sheer), LLC, aims to inspire informed decisions and a vision of empowering wisdom through broken pieces. Understanding that trauma rewires our brain and reconstructs how we feel about ourselves, our self-esteem is impacted far after the event takes place. Sheer’s focus on trauma-informed DEI training, esteem-building, and individual and relationship therapy enables varying partnership opportunities for stakeholders intrigued in primary prevention behavior change for the community. Trauma-informed practices stretch to all areas of the community. I am well-versed in both the mental and public health fields to enhance behavioral health, improve readiness for behavior change, and create a lasting impact that, in turn, nourishes the health of the community itself and those in it.

The selected modality for Sheer is rooted in Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy and strengthened through the Health Belief Model. Specific interventions are implemented from Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Gestalt Therapy.
